Do new parking regulations affect you?

City authorities are organizing a meeting for downtown residents next week.

THUNDER BAY – If you plan to attend the town meeting on Wednesday, July 3, you can park in the Prince Arthur Hotel parking lot so you won’t have to pay a fee at the parking meter.

The session is being held at the Prince Arthur Hotel in the hope that many people will come out of their homes, a city communications official said.

Anyone parking on the street will have to pay, but hotel parking is free.

The City Parking Service wants to hear from people living in city centers to find out more about their experiences with parking at meters.

Changes to parking rates and hours of operation began on June 1.

The city’s Parking Service wants to know what impact this change will have on residents of downtown Fort William, the Waterfront District and the Bay and Algoma areas.

“We want to understand what impact these changes have on people living in areas where paid parking is required,” said Jonathan Paske, the city’s manager of parking services.

“We’ve heard from businesses in these neighborhoods, but we also want to hear from the people who live in these areas.”

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Bertrand Room at the Prince Arthur Hotel, 17 Cumberland St. N
