J&K Govt liaises with realtors on draft development rights and land amalgamation rules – Kashmir Reader

SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has taken a significant step towards strengthening urban development by formulating the Draft Jammu and Kashmir Land Pooling Policy and Utilization of Tradable Development Rights 2024 and the Draft Jammu and Kashmir Land Pooling Policy 2024.
As part of its inclusive policy-making process, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has asked the general public to raise concerns and suggestions.
To support this initiative, the Secretary Commissioner of the Department of Housing and Urban Development convened meetings with real estate stakeholders in Kashmir and Jammu on June 26 and 29, 2024 at the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar and Jammu.
These meetings were held to gather valuable insights and opinions from real estate agents across Jammu and Kashmir on the proposed rules.
A comprehensive presentation was given on the Draft Policy on Subsidy and Use of Transferable Development Rights and the Draft Land Pooling Policy, detailing the key features and benefits of these policies.
The presentation highlighted the government’s commitment to creating a sustainable development framework that takes into account the needs of all stakeholders.
Following the presentation, real estate agents were asked to provide comments and suggestions.
Participants actively shared their perspectives, offering constructive feedback and proposing amendments to make the policy more effective. The discussions were characterized by a collaborative spirit, with real estate agents expressing appreciation for the government’s inclusive approach.
Both meetings ended positively, and the Commissioner’s Secretary thanked the real estate agents for their participation and valuable comments. Feedback collected during these sessions will be carefully reviewed and incorporated into the finalization of the policy.
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir remains committed to supporting a transparent and participatory policy-making process, ensuring that the voices of all stakeholders are heard and taken into account.
The final version of the policy is expected to pave the way for more organised and sustainable urban development in the region.
