Crime – 63-year-old man robbed while sleeping in Rostock

A 63-year-old man had his smartphone, tablet and around 1,000 euros in cash stolen in Rostock. According to police, the man fell asleep in an armchair in the parking lot next to his camper on Saturday evening. The thief took advantage of this moment to steal the devices and cash. The man’s son later reported the theft to the police by phone. He was able to locate the devices and also play the audio signal on the stolen devices.

The GPS location of the devices remained stationary at the home in Neustrelitz after about two and a half hours. Officers went to the address and kept in touch with the man’s son by phone. When he played a beeping sound, officers were able to locate the devices. Police say a 26-year-old suspect has been arrested.

The theft occurred in the city of Rostock, located in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The man’s stolen mobile phone beeped, leading police to suspect it was being used in Neustrelitz. According to reports, the suspect communicated using an elderly-friendly tablet during the investigation.
