Government engages real estate agents on draft zoning rights and land consolidation rules

Srinagar, June 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has taken a significant step towards streamlining urban development by formulating the Draft Jammu and Kashmir Land Pooling and Utilisation of Transferable Development Rights Policy, 2024 and the Draft Jammu and Kashmir Land Pooling Policy, 2024.

As part of its inclusive policy-making process, the Department of Housing and Urban Development invited the general public to submit concerns and suggestions.

To support this initiative, the Secretary to the Commissioner, Department of Housing and Urban Development, has convened meetings with real estate stakeholders in Kashmir and Jammu on June 26 and 29, 2024, at the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar and Jammu, respectively.

These meetings were held to gather valuable insights and opinions from real estate agents of Jammu and Kashmir on the proposed policies.

A comprehensive presentation of the draft Policy for the Grant and Use of Transferable Development Rights and the draft Land Pooling Policy was presented, detailing the key features and benefits of these policies.

The presentation highlighted the government’s commitment to creating a sustainable development framework that meets the needs of all stakeholders.

After the presentation, real estate agents were asked to submit comments and suggestions.

Participants actively shared their perspectives, offering constructive feedback and proposing improvements to make the policy more effective. The discussions were characterized by a spirit of cooperation, with real estate agents expressing their appreciation for the government’s inclusive approach.

Both meetings were concluded positively and the Secretary Commissioner thanked the real estate agents for their participation and valuable feedback. The feedback gathered during these sessions will be carefully reviewed and taken into account in finalizing the rules.

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir will continue to promote transparent and participatory decision-making, ensuring that the voices of all stakeholders are heard and taken into account.

The completed policies are expected to pave the way for more organised and sustainable urban development in the region.
