Hamas releases video showing members preparing explosive devices

Gaza, July 1 The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), released a video showing its members preparing explosives for use against Israeli military vehicles entering Gaza Strip cities.

The 40-second video shows group members painting the devices and placing them in portable bags in a covered area with black cloth on which are written the words: “He who seeks my death is chasing a mirage” and “(Operation) Flood in Al-Aqsa”.

Al-Qassam also reported the first use of “Fedayeen Operations” weapons during the war with Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip that has been ongoing since October last year, Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday.

This comes after the Al-Qassam and Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, on Sunday claimed attacks on Israeli vehicles and soldiers in the Shujaiya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City and the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood in the city’s south.

Al-Qassam said in a statement that its members “destroyed the Israeli Namer armored personnel carrier using a Yassin 105 missile, killing and injuring its crew” south of Tal al-Hawa.

In a separate statement, the brigades said their members also attacked “a Shezaret armoured personnel carrier and a D9 military bulldozer” in Tal al-Hawa.

In addition, another press release stated that its members “used mortar shells towards the gathering of Israeli forces in Shujaiya.”

The Al-Quds Brigades said in a statement that its members were “engaging in fierce clashes” with Israeli soldiers, using machine guns and anti-personnel weapons east of Shujaiya.

The brigades said in a separate statement that their members “bombarded Israeli army gatherings” in the Shujaiya district with “a series of mortar shells.”

Israel is conducting a large-scale offensive against Hamas in Gaza in retaliation for the Hamas rampage on Israel’s southern border on October 7, 2023, during which approximately 1,200 people were killed and over 200 were taken hostage.
