Montclair Library Evacuated After Bomb Threat; no devices found: MPD

A Montclair branch library was evacuated Sunday after someone sent an email with a bomb threat, police said.

MONTCLAIR, N.J. — A Montclair branch library was evacuated Sunday after someone sent an email bomb threat. No explosive devices were found, but police are investigating, police said.

Montclair Police provided the following details about the incident:

“On Sunday, June 30 at 3:59 p.m., the Montclair Police Department responded to a bomb threat reported by an officer at the Montclair Public Library located at 50 South Fullerton Avenue in Montclair. The threat was delivered to the library via email. The threat was directed at 50 and 40 South Fullerton, as well as 185 Bellevue Avenue. Both the Bellevue Ave Public Library and 40 South Fullerton Ave were closed at the time of the threat. 50 South Fullerton was evacuated. Essex County Sheriff’s Department K-9 units responded to search all locations for any explosive devices. No devices were recovered at this time and this incident is actively under investigation, demonstrating our commitment to resolving the situation.”
