In his latest “Power On” newsletter, Gurman announced that Apple has formally started work on its 2025 major operating systems under the codenames “Luck” for iOS 19, “Cheer” for macOS 16 and “Nepali” for watchOS 12, and ” Discovery” for ‌visionOS‌ 3.

While iOS 18, macOS 15 Sequoia, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2 have not yet been released to the public, the start of work on the next major software updates for Apple’s major devices is on track with its usual schedule. This is partly because hardware products slated for release next year require software for testing purposes, but it’s too early to know what features the new operating systems will offer.

Gurman also said the Vision Pro headset should gain Apple Intelligence support as early as next year, so that could make sense for ‌visionOS‌ 3. In the meantime, public betas of ‌iOS 18‌, macOS 15 Sequoia, ‌watchOS 11‌, and ‌visionOS 2‌ are expected to arrive next month ahead of an official launch in the fall.
