Apple iOS 19 Development Potentially Already Underway : Tech : Tech Times

Work on Apple’s end-2025 operating systems has reportedly begun just a month after Apple’s iOS 18 (Apple Intelligence) was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, a conference for iPhone manufacturers.

As usual, Apple is finalizing its next software releases in 2024 and focusing on the year ahead. Developers now have access to beta versions of iOS 19, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11 and macOS 15 Sequoia.

The OS improvements mentioned at WWDC will be released in Fall 2024. Reports indicate that Apple engineers have started focusing on releases scheduled for late 2025, such as iOS 19, watchOS 12, macOS 16, and visionOS 3.

Bluetooth pairing can be a pain because it takes a long time to connect devices. Thankfully, iOS 18 will soon solve this problem with a new AirPods-like setup.

Each of these upcoming releases has a code name. The macOS 16 version is reportedly called “Cheer” and the iOS 19 version being tested is called “Luck.” WatchOS 12 has been codenamed “Nepali” and VisionOS 3 is said to be codenamed “Discovery.”

The corporation typically starts working on these OS updates well in advance to coordinate the software with upcoming hardware components currently in development. Furthermore, this timeline is similar to previous years and is not accelerated.

Other product launches are scheduled for 2025, in addition to the expected introduction of new iPhone, iPad and Mac models later in 2024. This is expected to be the cheaper Apple Vision Pro model with lower specifications; you could even call it “Apple’s Vision.”

Several Apple AI features delayed in Europe

While Apple is already planning its plans for 2025, the tech giant faces a hurdle in Europe. According to recent reports, Apple has decided to delay the launch of three new AI features in Europe, which will impact consumers in all 27 European Union (EU) member countries.

Due to compliance concerns, Apple announced in late June that it would postpone the rollout of its latest AI features across Europe. The IT giant says regulatory concerns related to the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) will prevent European customers from using the new features.

This regulation requires tech companies to ensure that competitive products and services work with their gadgets to level the playing field in the digital economy. Apple’s move to delay the rollout of its cutting-edge AI capabilities in Europe highlights concerns about EU regulatory efforts to control the big tech industry.

Apple’s actions underscore the delicate balance the technology industry must maintain between innovation and compliance as the digital regulatory landscape continues to change.

Apple Vision Pro release

On the other hand, the Apple Vision Pro has just become available outside the United States and can be found in Apple Stores in Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and Japan. After going on sale in the US in February, this is the first time the Vision Pro has been available outside the country.

Vision Pro received conflicting reviews. While users appreciate the state-of-the-art hardware and technology, others have expressed reservations about its practicality, ease of use of gesture-based controls, weight, and overall comfort. The mixed reception of the device can be attributed to these factors.
