7 day forecast

All fireworks, including sparklers, firecrackers and cherry bombs, are illegal in Massachusetts

In Massachusetts, fireworks users must have a certificate of competency to legally operate a professional fireworks display. Residents are prohibited from using, possessing, or selling fireworks of any kind. This includes fireworks purchased legally elsewhere and brought into Massachusetts, sparklers, firecrackers, cherry bombs, and other fireworks. Fines range from $10 to $1,000, and some violations can result in up to a year in prison.

Over the past five years, there have been more than 500 fires and explosions in Massachusetts caused by the use of illegal fireworks, including more than 200 people receiving medical treatment for burns and other injuries.
