Balfour Beatty names its UK construction services company CEO

Nick Crossfield will join the international infrastructure group later this year as general manager of its UK construction services business.

Crossfield will be responsible for the strategic leadership of UK-based Balfour Beatty Construction Services, executing its business plans with a particular focus on further developing its presence in the growing infrastructure market – including the energy, defense and sustainable transport sectors – as a partner of choice for significant clients and customers, such as SCAPE, the Environment Agency, the NHS and Rolls Royce, as well as local authorities.

Crossfield, who studied mechanical engineering at Reading University, has over 40 years of experience in industry and engineering, starting his career as a BAE Systems graduate and then working for British Steel, Network Rail and Siemens. Nick is currently Managing Director of Alstom Transportation’s UK and Ireland division, a position he has held since 2015.

Crossfield will sit on the Executive Committee and report directly to Group Chief Executive Officer, Leo Quinn.

Quinn said of this calling: “I am delighted to welcome Nick to Balfour Beatty.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience working directly with government on behalf of industry, as well as a solid track record of managing large enterprises, successfully delivering sustainable, profitable growth and navigating highly regulated environments with a focus on driving operational improvements. His experience and understanding of the markets in which Balfour Beatty operates make him perfectly placed to lead our UK Construction Services business.”

Crossfield said: “I am delighted to be joining Balfour Beatty. I have watched with interest over the last 10 years as the Group has continued to position itself and win work in its core markets and I look forward to continuing its successful delivery of national and local infrastructure across the UK.”

Balfour Beatty’s UK construction services division consists of three business units: Scotland, Buildings – responsible for the delivery of construction projects in the aviation, health, defense, education and development sectors in England and Civils – responsible for the delivery of civil engineering projects in transport (highways, public realm and railways), flood and coastal defense and the industrial and energy sectors in England. As well as specialist brands Balfour Beatty Living Places, Balvac and Balfour Beatty Homes.
