ONDC records 3.7 lakh orders on T20 World Cup final day

New Delhi: The government’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) said on Monday that it recorded 374,000 orders in a single day during the T20 World Cup final.

“This demonstrates Open Network’s ability to handle high-volume transactions during major events. Additionally, the F&B category saw exceptional growth, registering 61,000 orders,” ONDC said in a statement.

These numbers demonstrate the growing adoption of the ONDC network approach and its role in transforming the Indian e-commerce landscape.

The chain said that by providing a level playing field for businesses of all sizes, it continues to elevate the digital shopping experience for consumers across the country.

In May, ONDC recorded an all-time high of 8.9 million transactions across its retail and passenger transport segments.

In the retail segment, ONDC reached a new high of 5 million orders in May, up from 3.59 million in April. The chain also recorded a record daily result of 200,000 retail transactions during the month.

According to the network, the grocery and food delivery categories exceeded the 1 million order mark for the first time, while the home and kitchen category numbered 630,000 orders, the fashion category 330,000 and the remaining retail subcategories up to 2 million.
