Aon loses UK RI boss

UK Director of Responsible Investment at Aon Tim Manuelleft after 18 years to start a new role in September. He joined the firm as a corporate consultant in 2006 and was promoted to investment consultant after three years. He then became co-head of responsible investment with Geri McMahon, before taking on the role individually when McMahon left in 2022 to join KPMG Australia, a spokesman for Aon said Responsible investor that a successor will be announced soon.

Jane Firth resigned from her position as head of responsible investment at Border to Coast. He is leaving to retire after six years in the position. Firth announced her plans to leave the pension fund in January. Prior to joining Border to Coast, she spent over 27 years with South Yorkshire Pensions Authority as a portfolio manager. Border to Coast recruited a person to replace Firth in January. At the time of writing, she had not responded to a request for comment on progress.

Jean Boissinot resigned as head of secretariat at the Network for Greening Financial Systems (NGFS) after more than three years. He is also leaving his position as deputy director for financial stability at Banque de France, where he worked for over five years. Boissinot started working as a director at the French Prudential Authority ACPR. He previously spent eight years at the French Treasury in several finance positions, including head of banking and financial analysis and senior advisor to the CEO.

He will replace him in his positions at NGFS and Banque de France Yanna Marinawho was previously deputy director of international affairs at ACPR. Marin returns to the French central bank, previously he was head of the market research and financial stability department.

European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has issued a declaration of interest for 20 members of the consultative working group of its Standing Sustainability Committee (SSC). ESMA is seeking applications from investors, investment service providers, issuers, auditors, credit and ESG data and ratings providers, and non-governmental organizations. Members will be elected for a renewable term of three years and appointed personally. The deadline for submitting applications is August 30.

Khadija Ali has joined Lloyds Banking Group as Director of Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility. She returns to the group as Interim Director of Environmental Sustainability from 2021-2022. In this newly created role, Ali will be responsible for leading the social sustainability and environmental sustainability teams. Prior to this, she spent over 14 years at EY, where she led the UK Climate Change and Sustainability Services practice. Director of Sustainability, Andrew Walton, and Ali will join the newly elected steering group of the Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) following recent membership elections.

Maciej Narr He was promoted to head of engagement at the Swiss foundation Ethos Foundation. He joined the organization in 2017 as a senior ESG engagement officer, having previously spent three years as ESG engagement officer at Robeco. Narr also spent four years at Sustainable Asset Management, where he led sustainability services, and held roles at UBS.

UNEP FI is looking for a consultant to support regulatory engagement in China, help UNEP FI and Principles for Responsible Banking members in the region understand the regulatory environment and showcase international best practices in implementing sustainable finance policies. The successful candidate will also engage with the UNEP FI China team on policy and regulatory issues through regulatory engagement.

The organization is also recruiting a regulatory expert and policy engagement consultant on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The successful candidate will support members in implementing the CSRD/ESRS, as well as other regulations and voluntary reporting requirements, through a range of activities. The deadline for submitting applications for both positions is July 8.

Clodagh Muldoon rejoined the Climate Bond Initiative as Head of Research. She replaces Caroline Harrison, who was promoted to Director of Technical Development in March. Muldoon was previously an independent sustainability consultant at Nashability, after leaving JPMorgan in 2023, where she was Executive Director, EMEA Debt Capital Markets, ESG. She first joined the CBI in 2020 as a data scientist before becoming Policy Manager. She has also held roles at BNP Paribas, Flagstone Investment Management and Deutsche Bank.

Sophie Barnes was promoted to senior manager of the Emerging Markets and Just Transition program at the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC). She joined the initiative in 2022 as senior program manager for Climate Action 100+, having previously served as senior policy advisor to the COP26 energy transition campaign. Barnes also spent two years at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy working on a variety of policies.

LSE Grantham Climate Change Research Institute Fair Transition Finance Lab is seeking a Senior Policy Officer to contribute to its research and engagement programs. This person will support the development of just transition financing solutions through policy-oriented research and analysis. This will also include stakeholder engagement, management of networks and participation in strategic initiatives within the laboratory and wider institutional framework. The deadline for submitting applications is July 14.

The Council of Institutional Investors was established Bob McCormick succeed Amy Borrus as executive director. Borrus resigned after four years at the helm of the board. McCormick has more than 25 years of experience in corporate governance. He led the proxy voting team at Fidelity Investments for five years before joining Glass Lewis, where he was director of policy for more than a decade. After leaving his position as proxy advisor, he joined PJT Camberview as a member of the advisory board.

Nathalie Lhayani after two years he stepped down as president of the French SIF. She will continue to serve as Group Head of Sustainability at the Groupe Caisse des Dépôts, a position she held for five years, and as a member of the CDC’s Biodiversity Advisory Board. Environmental lawyer Oliver Laffitte was appointed as her deputy. Currently works at Deyla Partners.

MSCI is looking for a biodiversity researcher for its office in Hungary. The successful candidate will serve as the technical research lead for MSCI’s biodiversity offering and develop methodologies and models for assessing impacts and threats to biodiversity.

GHG protocol designated Geraldine Matchett AND Ovais Sarmad as inaugural chairman and vice-chair of the new steering committee. Matchett was previously co-CEO and CFO of chemical company dsm-firmenich (formerly Royal DSM). She also served on the executive committee of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Matchett is currently a non-executive director of ABB, Nestlé and Swiss Re. She is also a board member of FCLTGlobal and a member of the Founding Board of IMD Business School.

Sarmad is a former Deputy Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC (2017-2023), where he participated in the development of guidelines for the implementation of the Paris Agreement, finalization of Article 6 in Glasgow and the establishment of a loss and damage fund in Sharm-el-Sheikh.

Patrick Parent after four years, he stepped down as chairman of the Committee of European Audit Oversight Bodies. He is being replaced by Panos Prodromides, CEO of the Cyprus Public Audit Oversight Board. Parent will remain director of future and international affairs at the French audit body H2A.

Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative (LSFI) has announced a call for applications for its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). The Board will conduct assessments, provide science-based proposals and guidance, identify and develop tools to support investment decisions in sustainable finance, recommend best practices and propose new areas of research. The LSFI Board of Directors will select the members of the SAB, as well as the Chair and Vice-Chair. The deadline for applications is 13 September.
