Prime Minister ANWAR CALLS FOR A STRATEGIC CHANGE IN THE TOURISM SECTOR

KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) – Malaysia requires a change in goals, strategies and initiatives for the tourism sector, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He, therefore, said that the framework, incentives and infrastructure development put in place by the government must be matched by investment from the private sector as it plays a key role in designing tourism products and providing quality human resources.

This was one of the key points of the 2024 National Economic Action Council (MTEN) Meeting No. 5, which he chaired today, focusing in depth on and discussing the tourism and public transport sectors.

“The aspect of improving the quality of existing public transport services was also raised, including improving connections with urban railway stations.

“I believe that improving the country’s public transport ecosystem must go hand in hand with understanding the current shortcomings and taking corrective measures,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
