On June 5, 25 students were indicted on charges of conspiracy, murder and negligence.

The prosecutor, CSP Funke Fawole, told the court that the accused beat 22-year-old Jefry Akro to death with planks and electric wire, PM News reports.

According to Fawole, security guard Femi Oladoye, however, failed to stop the aggrieved students from beating Akro to death.

Fawole said the offences were in breach of Sections 516, 515 and 324 of the Oyo State Penal Code 2000.

Ogunkanmi ruled that the legal opinion showed that the 12 students should not be charged with any crime.

According to Vanguard, the judge found there was no evidence linking any of the 12 students to the crimes allegedly committed.

Oladoye’s security guard, who was earlier charged with dereliction of duty, was also granted bail of N250,000 with two sureties in the same sum.
