RBI appoints two new executive directors

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday announced the appointment of Arnab Kumar Chowdhury and Charulatha S Kar as executive directors.

Chowdhury and Kar will look after three departments each.

According to the RBI, Kar has been appointed as Executive Director (ED) with effect from July 1 and Chowdhury has been appointed as Executive Director with effect from June 3, 2024.

Prior to his promotion to executive director, Chowdhury served as director general in the Vigilance Department.

As executive director, he will look after the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC), foreign exchange division and international division, an RBI statement said.

Prior to his promotion to the post of executive director, Kar served as director general of the human resources management department, the RBI said in a separate statement.

He will be in charge of the Department of Communication, the Department of Human Resources Management and the Right to Information (1st Appellate Body).

Kar is a postgraduate in commerce from the University of Mumbai and holds a diploma in treasury and foreign exchange management. He is also a certified IIBF associate.

Chowdhury is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Masters in Economics. He is also a Certified Associate of IIBF.

He has over three decades of experience with the Reserve Bank of India and has worked extensively in the area of ​​supervision of financial entities.

Chowdhury has worked in the areas of corporate strategy, budgeting, accounting and the issuance department. He also served on several committees and working groups and participated in policy formulation.

Kar has over thirty years of experience at the Reserve Bank, working in the areas of payment and settlement systems, information technology, government banking, internal accounts and human resources management.

She represented the Reserve Bank on several BIS Working Groups and was a member of other internal and external committees.
