Fireworks regulations during July 4th celebrations along the Grand Strand

With the 4th of July celebrations come fireworks.

Many people may be planning to detonate them themselves.

According to Americanpyro.com, Americans set off 246.5 million pounds of fireworks in 2023.

Here’s everything you need to know to avoid getting ticketed.

CONWAY

Residents can set off fireworks on July 4 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m

MYRTLE BEACH

Fireworks are prohibited on the beach and on public property

Fireworks are allowed on private property from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with the consent of the landowner.

NORTHERN MYRTLE BEACH

Fireworks are not allowed within city limits.

SURFSIDE BEACH

Fireworks are prohibited within city limits.

Unincorporated portions of HORRY COUNTY

Fireworks are prohibited on public beaches.

Fireworks are permitted on private property until 12:30 p.m.

PAWLEYS ISLAND

This area is a fireworks free zone.

In South Carolina, customers must be 16 years or older to purchase fireworks. Fireworks are prohibited in all SC state parks, including Huntington Beach and Myrtle Beach State Parks.

Violating the law is now a civil offense rather than a misdemeanor and carries a $250 fine for a first offense.
