PM ANWAR CALLS FOR STRATEGIC CHANGE IN TOURISM SECTOR

KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) — Malaysia needs to revise its goals, strategies and initiatives for the tourism sector, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In this regard, he said that the framework, incentives and infrastructure development set up by the government must be met with investment from the private sector as it plays a key role in designing tourism products and ensuring high-quality human resources.

This was one of the key points of the fifth meeting of the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) in 2024, which he chaired today, which focused on the tourism and public transport sectors and was the subject of in-depth discussions.

“The issue of improving the quality of existing public transport services, including improving connections to urban rail stations, was also discussed.

“I believe that improving the country’s public transport ecosystem must go hand in hand with understanding the current shortcomings and taking corrective measures,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
