Kuwait government strengthens open door policy with virtual access

The government has implemented an “open door” policy, guided by the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, aimed at improving public services and strengthening trust between government officials and citizens.

Citizens can now request meetings with top officials through the government’s “Tawasul System” available on the smart service “Sahel.” This move eliminates physical bureaucratic barriers. The Cabinet stressed the necessity of this approach during its May 19 session, urging citizens to direct their transactions directly to ministries and other government bodies.

The digital service aims to increase transparency and trust between society and the government by allowing citizens to quickly submit inquiries and complaints. Amer Al-Ajmi, head of the local affairs sector and government spokesman, said in a statement that the policy is in line with the directives of the Amir, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Al-Ajmi stressed that the government’s goal is to build public trust by providing a transparent medium that makes it easier and faster to resolve various issues. The smart service, available to all utilities and public service ministries, aims to reduce bureaucracy.

Citizens can request meetings with ministers, deputies or undersecretaries, with each department setting the terms and duration of these meetings. Several ministries have already announced their availability via an online service, and many ministers have instructed their departments to address obstacles citizens encounter in processing transactions.
