LK Metrology’s CAMIO 2024 software now has improved performance

British manufacturer of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) LK Metrology, Castle Donington, has announced the release of the latest version of its measurement, programming, simulation, analysis and reporting software.

CAMIO 2024 features improved performance in several key areas to enhance safety, increase quality control department productivity and reduce lead times from component production to inspection completion.

Clearance Box is a new path planning aid that simplifies and speeds programming by automatically adding clearance moves to prevent the sensor, whether a touch probe or laser scanner, from colliding with the workpiece as it moves between measured features or when the head is repositioned. Alongside this feature is Auto Sensor Selection, which increases inspection program efficiency by minimizing the total number of probe positions required to measure a part without requiring the programmer to devise an optimal sequence.

To improve the user experience, the displayed CAD features automatically become semi-transparent to allow easy access to drag-and-drop tools when configuring measurement strategies. Another improvement is the new design of the manual measurement window with large counter displays to make each contact more visible when manually measuring features. This is particularly beneficial when operating CAMIO remotely or away from the computer screen, for example when inspecting large workpieces.

Finally, a new standalone tool allows you to copy settings from one CAMIO 2024-enabled CMM to another. This is useful for users with multiple CMM installations, whether they are in the same location or in different locations, where settings need to be duplicated to harmonize quality processes. Copying CAMIO settings also creates a valuable backup for data security.

CAMIO 2024 encourages both experienced and novice users to graphically conduct inspections from a CAD model, both online and offline, although learning and teaching with a handheld CMM is available. An advanced graphical interface makes part alignment, feature inspection and dimensional tolerancing quick and intuitive. The software also supports Metrology Gate, a web-based Industry 4.0 portal that allows manufacturing teams to view and analyze quality data and monitor CMM activity from anywhere in the world on an Internet-connected device.
