Who has time for summer blues when there are new gadgets to check out? This month we got an update on the Insta360 GO and new mini-LED QLED from Sony. We also had the opportunity to see for ourselves ROG X Allywhich boasts a larger battery than the Steam Deck. These waterproof JBL speakers they’re inexpensive and perfect for going out on a boat, bike, or anywhere where loud music is socially acceptable. Here’s what we loved in June 2024.

Insta360 GO 3S

400 dollars Insta360 Go 3S is not Just action camera for pets, but why would you use it for anything else? It’s an update to last year’s GO 3, with up to 4K recording at 30fps — up from a maximum of 2.7K on the regular GO 3 — so there’s less distortion when you move. The GO 3S has a wider lens than the regular GO 3 — 16mm compared to 11mm on the previous GO — which helps reduce edge distortion.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G8

4K for $1,300 Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 brings all the richness and clarity of the brand’s smartphones to your PC or console gaming experience with a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz. If that’s not enough, Odyssey will let you stream all your favorite apps and games without a console.

ROG X Ally

800 dollars ROG X Ally launched this month, just a year after its predecessor hit the scene. But it already boasts more promising battery life and performance thanks to a larger battery pack and increased memory offerings. The chassis has also been redesigned to be more comfortable for long gaming sessions.

Asus ProArt Laptops

New from Asus ProArt Laptops are two-in-one devices with AMD and Qualcomm chips. They’re part of Microsoft’s Co-Pilot+, but at least they seem more promising than AI-focused PCs from other manufacturers. The entry-level ProArt P16 laptop is essentially the ROG Zephyrus G16 gaming laptop in a thinner, portable package.

Sony Bravia 7 Mini-LED QLED 4K TV

Sony TVs are still a great buy. 65-inch TV for $2,000 Sony Bravia 7 It doesn’t stand out from other QLED designs, but its HDR colors are bright and beautiful for watching content. The only caveat is that you need to make sure you don’t have any direct light shining at the TV, as it tends to produce glare.

JBL Clip 5 and Go 4

Summer is the perfect time to invest in a waterproof Bluetooth speaker, especially if you are going somewhere where you can enjoy listening to music. JBL Clip 5 and Go 4 each weighs less than a pound, making them easy to carry in a backpack or beach bag. They cost $80 and $50, respectively.
