The Government of National Unity (GNU) parties welcomed President Cyril Ramaphosa’s nomination on Sunday evening for the position of executive director, while the EFF said its decision not to join was justified and vowed to “undermine the backward political achievements of the ANC-DA grand coalition at all levels of government and on the picket lines”.

“It remains our common duty as revolutionaries to fight for economic freedom in our lifetime and to inform the masses of our society that the former liberation movement has betrayed its historical mission and transformed into a weapon of racism,” the EFF said in a statement.

“Let us build a strong, principled and revolutionary alternative towards true liberation. This is not retreat, this is not surrender, as we stand face to face with racists and their lap dogs!”
