SmartThings update brings new shared routines, power-saving features and support for Matter 1.2

Samsung just made its smart home platform even easier to use with today’s new July update. Its headline feature is Shareable Routines, which makes the process of automating the best smart home devices more accessible to everyone in your household. Meanwhile, Matter 1.2 support, improved hub functionality, and UI improvements are the main additions that streamline performance and bolster the reputation of one of the best smart home hubs.

Shared routines

This new functionality lets you effortlessly share automated series of tasks from your smart home device with other people in your home, like family members or guests. For example, you can share a morning routine that gradually turns on the lights, starts the coffee machine, and plays your favorite playlist. Or, in the evening, you can turn off the lights, read aloud the status of your smart lock, and play a bedtime sound. With endless possibilities, your routines can be easily shared via a QR code. Recipients can scan it to activate the routine in their own SmartThings setup.
