L’Energètica launches public tenders for renewable energy projects in Catalonia

L’Energètica, the public renewable energy company of the Generalitat de Catalunya, has launched its first public procurement process for the purchase of renewable energy projects. The process invites all interested companies to participate by offering ground-mounted solar parks of up to 5 MW.

With a budget of up to 10 million euros, L’Energètica intends to expand its portfolio of energy facilities managed throughout Catalonia. Priority will be given to new construction projects, focusing on minimal costs and social acceptance by the municipality where the projects are planned.

Selection criteria include the involvement of energy communities, contribution to the municipality’s energy self-sufficiency, adoption of measures to limit the environmental impact, inclusion of hybridization of storage facilities and use of components manufactured in the EU. Projects ensuring a balanced territorial distribution while taking into account network capacity constraints will also be given priority.

Interested companies can submit their proposals from 1 to 31 July via the L’Energètica contractor profile. Selected projects will undergo a comprehensive audit to confirm technical, economic and legal feasibility before finalising the purchase.

L’Energètica was founded in March last year with the aim of decarbonising electricity consumption in the Generalitat. Currently managing renewable assets and promoting solar, wind and hydropower projects, the company aims to achieve over 1,000 MW of renewable energy by 2040. In its first year, L’Energètica has accumulated a generating capacity of 19 MW, with over 50 projects underway or planned, serving one million supply points across Catalonia.
