WTO reform key to driving reglobalization | Article

The transition to digital technology requires the transfer of data and information across borders, with all parties required to rely on a seamless and uninterrupted flow of information between companies and countries.

To ensure supply chain resilience and efficiency, governments must promote policy coherence and harmonized digital rules, increasing the urgency of decisive WTO action. Work is already underway to accelerate the development of a globally harmonized, digitalized trade environment. The ICC Digital Standards Initiative engages the public sector to advance regulatory and institutional reform and mobilizes the private sector to harmonize, adopt, and build capacity for standards.
