Technology will finally solve the problem of government waste and politics

David Goodnight, founder of The Goodnight Group, emphasizes the need to leverage existing and advanced technologies to deliver next-generation government efficiency.

Forget the federal government, it’s a lost cause…for now. But county, city, and state governments will slowly transition to a blended blockchain and AI platform that will allow citizens to decide where tax dollars are allocated and which government services and infrastructure will be prioritized.

The political turbulence in North America and around the world has caused such division that most people who previously had no interest in government or politics are now watching, discussing, or even cutting off communication with family and childhood friends.

More and more people are bypassing traditional monopolies and taking a stand against industries they see as unnecessary or against their principles; and it’s only a matter of time before this thought process permeates government. The 20 million adoption of the Robinhood trading app during the pandemic and its user-friendly ease of replacing thousands of stockbrokers are evidence of change. The decision by 70,000 business owners and 1.6 million active customers to sideline the largest online retailer in favor of an alternative online marketplace (PublicSquare) for political positioning is astonishing. Several local governments, including the UK Parliament, allowing AI representatives into their government bodies is as terrifying as it is helpful.

At some point, a small municipality will agree to adopt a new platform that will allow its small community to interact, “upvote,” review budgets, identify inefficiencies, and set policy priorities; the popularity will absolutely terrify the larger municipalities that have had this power in their clutches for centuries. Recent politics may have created extreme divisions, but half the world’s population does not trust its governing body. Sixty percent of American adults do not trust the government to do what is best for the country, and seventy-eight percent believe that the government makes decisions largely on the basis of politics rather than the public interest.

An example of how this new platform works is the theory behind the toxic algae crisis that began in one U.S. state in 2019 and has since recurred, killing dozens of dogs. At the same time, there was controversy over the installation of unlimited $4-a-month EV charging stations in the wealthiest part of a major metropolitan area. Should the city provide free charging to its wealthiest demographic? No. Would more than 50,000 residents support immediate action on the algae threat? Yes. Worse, one EV owner was plugging his laptop into his EV and mining Bitcoin at taxpayer expense.

Most people want to live their lives without thinking about government spending or politics, but there are huge inefficiencies in every pocket of government. People don’t want to wait in line to vote on random policies or budgets, that’s outdated. This theoretical platform will leverage ever-evolving identity verification technology, supported by blockchain tracking and an open-source platform that empowers communities rather than legislators. This will provide a new sense of local ownership and accountability. This empowerment will encourage citizens as “stakeholders” to prioritize issues that address their specific needs in real time and restore a sense of transparency and trust in government.
