The government’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) said on Monday that it recorded 374,000 orders in a single day during the T20 World Cup final.

“This demonstrates Open Network’s ability to handle high-volume transactions during major events. Additionally, the F&B category saw exceptional growth, registering 61,000 orders,” ONDC said in a statement.

These numbers demonstrate the growing acceptance of ONDC’s network approach and its role in transforming the Indian e-commerce market.

The chain said that by providing a level playing field for businesses of all sizes, it continues to elevate the digital shopping experience for consumers across the country.

In May, ONDC recorded a record 8.9 million transactions in its retail and passenger transportation segments.

In the retail segment, ONDC hit a new high of 5 million orders in May, up from 3.59 million in April. The chain also reported a record daily retail transaction volume of 200,000 during the month.

According to the chain, the grocery and food delivery categories topped 1 million orders for the first time, while home and kitchen orders reached 630,000, fashion 330,000 and other retail subcategories reached 2 million.
