Uzbek electronics retailer secures $10 million EBRD loan

On July 1, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced its support for the further development of retail and e-commerce standards in Uzbekistan by financing the expansion of one of the country’s leading consumer electronics and home appliance store chains, CA-store (formerly Credit Asia).

The loan of up to $10 million will finance the working capital needed by CA-store to expand beyond the capital Tashkent. The Uzbek retailer is expected to expand its operations to all major cities in the country in the coming years.

The funds will also be used to develop CA-store online sales by introducing new e-commerce standards in the rapidly growing e-commerce market in Uzbekistan and enabling online shopping for customers across the country.

The greater regional reach of the CA-store will help reduce the grey economy by offering original goods and full compliance with national tax requirements.

An integral part of the project is CA-store’s commitment to creating equal and fair employment opportunities for employees.
