Novelis Announces Executive Appointments

Executives appointed across geographies and functions will continue to drive long-term growth and lead the industry

ATLANTA, July 2, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Novelis Inc., a leading provider of sustainable aluminum solutions and a global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, today announced executive appointments in key regions and roles to accelerate global growth and advance aluminum as the material of choice for circular solutions. The company’s executives Roberta Soares AND Cary Chenanda were appointed to the positions of regional presidents South America AND North America.

Former South America president Francisco Pires has been named chief transformation officer, while former North America interim president Tadeu Nardocci will become executive vice president of manufacturing operations and oversee the company’s major capital projects.

Novelis South America

Roberta Soares has been named senior vice president and president of Novelis South America, effective June 1. As head of the region, Soares will manage all aspects of the company’s operations in South America, where net sales totaled $2.46 billion in fiscal year 2024. The region consists of two plants and approximately 1,700 employees serving the beverage and specialty packaging markets.

Soares most recently served as Vice President of Operations for Novelis South America. Prior to that, she served as Vice President of Finance and IT for four years at Novelis South America. Soares joined the company in 2000 as a Marketing Intelligence and Financial Planning Analyst in Brazil. During her tenure at Novelis, she held positions in Operations, Finance, Strategy, Marketing and Recycling.

Novelis North America

Cary Chenanda has been named executive vice president and president of Novelis North America. As head of the region, Chenanda will lead all aspects of the company’s operations in North Americawhose net sales amounted to $6.72 billion in fiscal year 2024. The region consists of 15 plants and more than 4,000 employees serving the beverage packaging, automotive and specialty markets.

Chenanda joined Novelis in April 2024 as the appointed president North America region. Prior to Novelis, Chenanda spent 25 years at Cummins, most recently serving as vice president and general manager of Cummins Emissions Solutions, 4 billion dollars a company with 4,500 employees, 12 manufacturing plants, seven technical centers and two joint ventures worldwide. During his tenure at Cummins, Chenanda held positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, marketing, purchasing, operations and general management.

Office of Transformation

Francisco Pires has been named senior vice president and chief transformation officer. In this role, Pires will focus on leading Novelis’ vision to promote aluminum as the material of choice for circular solutions.

Pires most recently served as senior vice president and president of Novelis South America. Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer of Novelis South America. Pires joined Novelis in 2012 as chief purchasing officer for South AmericaDuring his tenure, he also held leadership positions in sales, procurement and supply chain for Novelis South America.

Expansion

Thaddeus Nardocci has been named executive vice president of manufacturing operations and will oversee a number of transformational investment projects already underway, including approximately $4.1 billion investment in the construction of an integrated rolling and recycling plant with a capacity of 600 kilotons, serving the beverage packaging and automotive markets Minette Bay, Alabama.

Nardocci, who has been with Novelis for 45 years, has extensive experience in capital expansion projects and has held numerous leadership positions throughout his tenure with the company, including interim president of Novelis North America, chief operating officer, president of Novelis South America, president of Novelis Europe and senior vice president of innovation, technology and strategy.
