Apple releases second beta of tvOS 17.6 to developers

Apple released the second beta of tvOS 17.6 to developers for testing on July 1. This comes two weeks after the first beta was made available.

Developers can download the update via the Settings app on their Apple TV, requiring a developer account. But as always, we advise against downloading the developer beta unless you’re a developer, as the update could contain major bugs. But if you want to, here’s how.

tvOS updates are notoriously minor compared to other Apple software updates. They typically focus on bug fixes and performance improvements rather than new features. Details about what’s included in tvOS 17.6 aren’t available yet. Here are the release notes, though.

As revealed by Mac Rumors, Apple does not typically share detailed release details for tvOS updates during the beta testing phase.

This could be the last version of tvOS 17 before the major upcoming tvOS 18 release, which will be unveiled at WWDC. Gamers will be thrilled to know that tvOS 18 and iOS 18 developers can now create bigger games and apps for these devices, meaning games can now have better graphics than ever before.
