BeReal hit by layoffs after Voodoo acquisition

BeReal suffered a wave of layoffs following its acquisition from Voodoo.

The social media app’s COO Romain Salzman said on LinkedIn that 28 employees across engineering, quality control and marketing were affected “as part of a renewed focus on French/European talent.”

Last month, Voodoo acquired BeReal for €500 million, with Wizz CEO Aymeric Roffé replacing the app’s former CEO and founder Alexis Barreyat.

“As we focus on the next steps and sustainable development of BeReal, we have made the difficult decision to lay off some team members,” reads a statement posted on PocketGamer.

“We will support the team members affected and are incredibly grateful for their contributions. We are committed to upholding BeReal’s mission and values.”
