Lirvana Labs’ Yeti Confetti™ Kids App Reports Math and English Scores Cut by Half in Just 10 Weeks

Playing 15 minutes a week on the Yeti Confetti Kids app has been proven to improve English literacy and math skills

MENLO PARK, California., July 2, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Lirvana Laboratoriescreator of the Yeti Confetti Kids app, which provides a personalized AI-powered learning companion for preschool and early school-age children, has proven that just 15 minutes of play per week significantly improves children’s English and math skills, leading to a half-grade improvement over 10 weeks, according to data collected from a group of students.

The company and its flagship app have been seeing impressive growth this year, and are announcing several new features and partnerships this summer. From January to May 2024Yeti Confetti Kids recorded 15,000 new user downloads, excluding those in pilot schools in the US, Near EastAND Asia. 90% of Yeti Confetti Kids users come from the United States, with the United States and the United Kingdom accounting for 95% of all users in the last 90 days. Since the pandemic National Assessment of Educational Progress estimates that more than two-thirds (68%) of fourth-grade students in the U.S. are struggling in reading. For students learning English and math using the Yeti Confetti Kids app, comprehension increased from .41 below grade level to .16 above in just 10 weeks.

In an effectiveness study conducted at Daniel International School in ThailandYeti Confetti Kids accelerated English language proficiency among rural students with minimal language skills. These students exceeded the typical annual growth rate by 70%, and WIDA scores showed an average increase of 1.28 levels over 9 months.

This summer, Lirvana Labs is expanding its footprint by partnering with several partners to reach new students and introduce new features, including:

• Many years of scientific research with Stanford Senior Researcher and Director Stanford Deliberative Democracy Laboratory, Dr. Alice Siu:Dr. Siu will lead a multi-year research study to evaluate the effectiveness of Yeti Confetti Kid’s AI modules on English language literacy, math, and critical thinking skills for first through third graders. The study will utilize both anecdotal and controlled experimental methods in select school districts on the West and East Coasts.
• LLM-Based Critical Thinking Simulator: Lirvana Labs is rolling out the first LLM-based critical thinking simulator for children aged six to nine in select partner schools and non-governmental organizations. This initiative aims to expand on the already popular Yeti Confetti Kids Social Emotional Learning short films and enhance students’ critical thinking skills, a key competency in the era of social media and generative AI content. The simulator, part of Yeti Confetti Kids, uses immersive storytelling and interactive decision-making with virtual characters to promote high-quality information processing and complex communication.
  Co-authored with Dr. Alice Siu and founding chairman of the Character Education Foundation Christine Ma-Lauprogram aligns with the core pillars of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), including emotional awareness and responsible decision-making. Based on extensive research, including the Human Deliberative Quality Index, the project will be patent-pending after pilot testing in the second half of 2024.
• Multilingual Learning Companion, Powered by AI Voice and Translation: Yeti Confetti Kids releases a multilingual learning companion that can speak a combination of English and five other languages: Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, French, and German. This feature allows Yeti, the learning companion, to explain topics and introduce videos in two languages.
• Spelling Games: Yeti Confetti Kids introduces spelling games with simple phonetic words that are dynamically adapted to the level of awareness of each child. The games take into account not only the child’s ability to find the correct letters to form a word, but also adapt the spelling list based on each child’s unique practice of vowels, consonants and syllabification.
