French antitrust regulators preparing charges against Nvidia, sources say

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – French competition authorities are preparing to charge Nvidia with alleged anti-competitive practices, people with direct knowledge of the matter said, making the company the first enforcement body to do so.

The so-called French statement of opposition, or charge sheet, comes after the recent raids on the graphics card sector in September last year, which sources said were aimed at Nvidia.

The world’s largest maker of chips used in both artificial intelligence and computer graphics has seen demand for its chips soar after the launch of its AI app ChatGPT late last year, prompting heightened regulatory scrutiny on both sides of the Atlantic.
