Apple Releases Public Beta 2 for iOS 17.6, macOS 14.6, and More

After releasing new developer betas yesterday, Apple today released the second public betas of iOS 17.6, macOS 14.6, iPadOS 17.6, and more.

In recent years, Apple’s summer practice has been to run two beta testing cycles simultaneously: one for the first major versions of the operating system due in the fall, and another for the last major updates to existing versions of the operating system.

This year, that means betas are available for both iOS 18 and the upcoming iOS 17.6, both macOS 14.6 and 15.0, and so on.

If you have opted in to receiving public betas of current versions of the operating system, Apple has already released public beta 2 for its various platforms.

You can download iOS 17.6 public beta 2 by going to Settings ⇾ General ⇾ Software Update on your iPhone.

So far, the only known new feature in iOS 17.6 is an improvement to the TV app called “Catch Up.” The feature aims to give you access to top sports events once you’ve started watching a game, so you can easily catch up before tuning in to the live stream.
