In recent acquisitions, Pye-Barker acquires Cox Fire Protection and AlarmTech

ATLANTA — Pye-Barker Fire & Safety recently made two acquisitions on opposite ends of the country, expanding its footprint in Washington and Florida.

Pye-Barker has acquired Cox Fire Protection, a southeast Florida fire protection company with three locations. Pye-Barker said Cox Fire Protection has synergies with nearby operations, enhancing the company’s ability to provide long-term service and maintenance to commercial customers.

Founded in 1984 by Ron and Linda Cox and currently led by their son Scott Cox, Cox Fire Protection operates from locations in Tampa, Ocala and Jacksonville, Florida to provide comprehensive installation, service and inspection of fire sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems and alarm systems. The company also protects businesses with 24/7 fire extinguisher monitoring and service.

“I am proud to follow in the footsteps of other family-owned businesses that have chosen to join Pye-Barker,” said Scott Cox, President of Cox Fire. “With four decades of service, Cox Fire has become a leading fire protection company in our region and has worked on some of the most iconic buildings and projects in Florida. I am excited to see how Pye-Barker’s support will propel us to even greater projects in the future.”

Pye-Barker also acquired AlarmTech Inc., a company specializing in security systems, fire alarm systems, access control and CCTV for customers in the Seattle, Washington area. The company said the acquisition complements its growing presence in integrated life safety services in Washington state.

“At AlarmTech, we pride ourselves on providing a critical service that protects our neighbors and community,” said Richard McCurdy, president of AlarmTech. “Joining Pye-Barker—which has become a leading buyer in our industry while maintaining a small business feel in each community it serves—just makes sense. We are able to offer enhanced security services to take care of our existing and new customers.”

Pye-Barker CEO Bart Proctor credited teams like those at Cox Fire and AlarmTech for his growth and inspiration. The company prides itself on continuing the legacy of small “family businesses” as part of its culture. “The entire team here will now be part of the largest family business in our industry, Pye-Barker, where we honor the legacy of those who came before us and encourage our team members to define their own legacy,” Proctor said.

This will ensure the Cox Fire team and AlarmTech team continue to serve their customers with the support and resources of Pye-Barker.
