WORCESTER, Mass. (WPRI) — Worcester authorities are warning the public to be vigilant after three homemade explosive devices were found last month.

Fireworks, a canister of butane gas and explosives were discovered after a small explosion in the area of Madison Street on June 19, according to a joint city press release.

Authorities said two non-detonating explosive devices made of similar materials were also found in the refrigerators.

Anyone who sees unattended refrigerators or other suspicious items should call 911.

“Massachusetts residents have been seriously injured while attempting to create homemade explosive devices. These devices are illegal and potentially deadly,” Fire Marshal Jon Davine said in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing.
