Amazon Prime Day 2024: The best early bird deals on streaming devices, Kindles, and more tech

After months of building up excitement, we now know that Prime Day 2024 will take place on Tuesday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 17. Luckily, if you’re looking to grab a bargain before the upcoming sale event, Amazon has already started rolling out big discounts on several of its devices, including TVs, e-readers, streaming devices, and even Alexa-enabled sunglasses. The list of Prime-exclusive deals is relatively short for now, but it’s set to grow to thousands of products in a few short weeks.

Keep in mind, though, that you’ll need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber to take advantage of any Prime Day deals. You can, however, sign up for a free 30-day trial as a new member, which will give you more than enough time to take advantage of the upcoming sale and enjoy other Amazon Prime benefits in the run-up to the event. Once you’ve signed up with an account with an active subscription, you’ll get instant access to all of the deals below.

Amazon offers its latest Fire TV Stick 4K Max in refurbished condition for $29.99 (50 percent off) right now, matching the streaming device’s all-time low price. The used device has essentially been factory reset — wiped, cleaned, and inspected — and is covered by the same one-year warranty as a new model.

The Max is the first Fire TV streaming device we recommend if you want a sleeker option and can’t afford a set-top box like the Fire TV Cube. It’s significantly faster than the regular Fire TV Stick 4K, offers twice the storage, and supports Wi-Fi 6E. It can also display graphics and widgets in idle mode — similar to Samsung’s Frame TVs — and comes with an improved Alexa Voice Remote with shortcuts to popular streaming services.

Amazon’s latest streaming stick is faster than its predecessor with Wi-Fi 6E and twice the memory. It now also displays widgets and graphics when idle, while also offering Alexa integration.

You can get Amazon Kindle Scribe Essentials Bundle – who is coming with a leather folio case and power adapter — or the Basic Pen starting at $276.97 ($173 off) or the Premium Pen starting at $294.97 ($185 off). The Premium Pen is the better choice because it has a built-in digital eraser and a shortcut button, which the Basic Pen lacks.

We’ve loved the Kindle Scribe since our first review at launch. The e-reader’s large 10.2-inch display is great for reading, but we found the e-reader’s note-taking capabilities lacking. That’s changed significantly over the past year, with Amazon rolling out a series of updates, some of which have added handwriting recognition, more pen styles, improved notebook organization, and the ability to take notes directly on individual pages.

Amazon’s entry-level Kindle Scribe Essentials Bundle includes a 16GB Kindle Scribe, a Basic or Premium Pen, a power adapter, and a leather folio cover in your choice of color. Read our Kindle Scribe review.

This 55-inch Amazon Fire TV Omni has dropped to $349.99 ($200 off) on Amazon, which is just $50 more than its best price to date. This isn’t the QLED-based Omni, to be clear, nor is it the best TV for gamers who want to take full advantage of the high refresh rates in newer consoles. That said, it’s a decent TV for the money if you don’t care about any of those things.

The 4K set doesn’t support Dolby Vision HDR (you’ll need a 65- or 75-inch model), but it does support HDR10, HLG, and relatively low input lag. Built-in microphones enable hands-free Alexa voice commands, meaning you don’t always need the remote to turn on the TV and find something to watch. It also has three HDMI ports for connecting Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, and other streaming devices, one of which supports HDMI eARC for single-cable external audio for supported soundbars and receivers.

The Amazon Fire TV Omni has built-in microphones for Alexa commands and low input lag. It also offers access to Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus, and most major streaming services. However, only the 65-inch and 75-inch models support Dolby Vision. Read our review.

Third generation Amazon Echo Frames They’re certainly more stylish than previous models, but they’re also a bit more expensive when they’re not on sale. Luckily, the smart glasses are down to just $169.99 ($130 off) on Amazon for all five styles with blue-light-filtering lenses, which beats their previous all-time low price by $55. You can also opt for a pair of Carreras, which are currently marked down to $269.99 ($120 off) for Prime members and come in darker shades for those who prefer sunglasses over a pair of traditional lenses.

In terms of features, Amazon’s latest Echo Frames offer decent battery life and built-in open-ear audio for calls, listening to music, and podcasts, with a microphone for Alexa voice control. But there’s no built-in camera for easy POV photos and videos like you’d get on similar wearables like the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

Amazon offer available by invitation only Sony WH-CH520 It’s a great way to get your Prime Day fix in early. The tan will be on sale for its lowest price ever at $35.99 ($44 off) on July 16 and 17; however, you’ll need to be a Prime member and request an invite to purchase it. If you choose to do so, Amazon will email you details on how to checkout, as the invite-only deals will run throughout the event.

The entry-level headphones are a step down from the Sony WH-1000XM5 and even the WH-CH720N, but that’s forgivable given the huge price difference. You won’t get the benefit of active noise cancellation, and because they use an on-ear design rather than a more traditional over-ear design, you may not find them as comfortable as other models. They should offer solid sound quality when needed, though, along with an impressive 50-hour battery life. They also offer support for multi-point connectivity, Google Assistant, Siri, and Google’s Find My Device network.

The Sony WH-CH520 offers a lot for very little. The on-ear Bluetooth headphones offer 50 hours of battery life and support hands-free voice assistants, including Google Assistant and Siri. They also offer multipoint Bluetooth support and can use the Google Find My Device network.

Right now, Prime subscribers who have never signed up for Amazon Music Unlimited you can get five months free on Amazon, while non-Prime members can get three months free. After the promotional period ends, you’ll be able to continue streaming Bathroom Mirror shows for the usual $10.99 per month (or $9.99 if you’re a Prime subscriber).

For those unfamiliar, Amazon Music Unlimited provides on-demand, ad-free access to millions of songs and podcasts. It also offers unlimited skips and offline listening, which is pretty standard for premium music services. What’s unusual is the service’s support for surround sound and Amazon’s “Ultra HD” audio quality, which offers 24-bit, 192Hz streaming for 7 million songs, if you have the ears and equipment to catch the extra detail. It also supports CD-quality lossless audio for more than 100 million more.

An Amazon Music Unlimited subscription gives you ad-free access to millions of podcast episodes and over 100 million songs, starting at just $10.99 per month.
