Scotland’s oil town hopes to become Europe’s green energy capital by switching to renewable energy

Aberdeen became the anchor of the British oil industry. Hundreds of offshore drilling rigs began to gather oil, gas and money.

However, in the face of a global climate crisis driven by dwindling reserves, the UK has set itself a target of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, a goal highlighted at the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland, which set a target of net zero emissions by 2045.

The city of Aberdeen, which calls itself the oil capital of Europe, has committed to becoming its energy capital.
