Virginia-born, Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist Kate Bollinger recently announced her highly anticipated, kaleidoscopic debut album Songs from a thousand frames of the mindout September 27th via Ghostly International. Today, she shares a new song from the album, the lulling, empathetic “For your own devices.

Of the video, co-directed by Bollinger and Nikki Milan Houston, she says, “When I moved to Los Angeles, I came across a book of old Japanese designs called MOGA, which stood for ‘modern girls,’ which was used to describe fashionable urban women in the 1920s who had adopted Western styles and manners. In the book, I found a surreal design of a woman underwater with fish swimming around her, dressed in a beautiful costume, stirring a giant bowl of fish like a pot of soup. I knew right away that I wanted to recreate the scene for the album cover. I wrote the script for the video and hired filmmaker Nikki Milan Houston as co-director and set designer. We hired Odie Summers as set builder, and in a few days, a friend of mine’s studio downtown built a kitchen that came to life thanks to the exceptional skill and dedication of everyone involved.”

Additionally, Kate Bollinger announces a fall North American tour to support Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind. See below to find a show near you.
