GWOZA BOMBINGS: IGP CONDEMNS BOMBING, SENDS ADDITIONAL EOD OFFICERS, USES TECH GADGETS TO SURVEY AREA, PREVENTS REPEATED ATTACKS

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has strongly condemned the recent suicide bombings in Gwoza, Borno State, a series of tragic incidents that claimed innocent lives and left scores injured. The IGP also conveys his heartfelt condolences to the government and the good people of Borno State, especially the families and loved ones of those affected.

In swift response to these atrocities, the IGP has deployed additional personnel and resources to Borno State to strengthen security, prevent further attacks and assure residents of our commitment to ensure their complete safety. The NPF Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit in collaboration with the Nigerian Army EOD unit is actively participating in the clearing operations to ensure that no further threats enter any part of Borno State or neighbouring states.

The IGP reiterates the zeal of the Nigerian Police to continue to work with the military and other security agencies as well as stakeholders to curb all forms of criminal and violent attacks in the country. He also urges Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police without delay.

In addition, the Inspector General of Police ordered the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Police Intelligence Department to increase intelligence gathering across the country to combat crime more effectively.
