Hitachi Zosen Inova acquires Babcock & Wilcox Renewable Service

Hitachi Zosen Inova AG (Inova), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Zosen Corporation engaged in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of waste-to-energy (WtE) and renewable gas plants, has acquired Babcock & Wilcox Renewable Service A/S (Denmark) from Babcock & Wilcox Enterprise, Inc. and made it a subsidiary.
BWRS employs over 160 people and provides after-sales services and maintenance for waste and biomass-to-energy plants. The company has a strong position in the Nordic market, with a high market share.
In total, there are more than 140 waste-to-energy plants in the Nordic countries, many of them are already older, so an increase in demand for after-sales services can be expected.
Inova intends to expand its full plant life cycle operations, both at its own facilities and at those of other companies, and this acquisition is consistent with that strategy.
According to Inova, BWRS’s Nordic location provides a complementary relationship with its new parent company geographically.
