Seventeen decisions were recently issued for the acquisition of properties in the Janabiya area by HE Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture. This acquisition benefits the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications, marking significant progress in the planned Gulf Railway and King Hamad Causeway project, thus paving the way for its progress.

This announcement follows a tender issued by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in early June, inviting specialist companies to examine the operational plan for the GCC rail project. The specifications are available for applicants, and applications must be submitted by July 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with bid envelopes to be opened a month later.

The expropriation decisions in Janabiya are part of a wider set of 137 decisions published in the Official Gazette on 27 June 2024. Covering various regions of Bahrain, these decisions constitute the largest number of expropriations announced by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture this year.

The Ramla area has the highest number of expropriations, followed by Nuwaidrat and Muharraq. These expropriations are primarily aimed at developing detailed plans for the regions, including Ramla, South Nuwaidrat and Jurdab. In addition, properties have been acquired for urban renewal projects in Muharraq province.

The acquisition of land in Janabiya and the launch of the operational plan confirm the project’s dynamism and its potential to enhance regional connectivity and economic integration.
