JetBrains provides a self-hosted version of the Qodana platform

JetBrains is rolling out its new Qodana Self-Hosted platform. This platform allows users to manage and maintain it on their infrastructure.

Qodana Self-Hosted is a platform that checks the quality of written code. It does this using Static Code Analysis, the purpose of which is to warn users about potential vulnerabilities in non-working (static) source code. The self-hosted platform is an extension of the offer that became generally available a year ago.

The platform integrates with JetBrains IDEs and VS Code. This allows the user to immediately address identified gaps in the IDE. The platform integrates with several JetBrains IDEs, such as IntelliJ IDEA, WebStorm, PhpStorm, PyCharm, Rider, and GoLand.

Compliance and control

The platform will now also be available as a self-hosted version. This gives users more control over their own data, as well as greater privacy. This allows the project code to be separated from external infrastructure. For some profiles, this is necessary due to regulations prohibiting sharing data with foreign cloud providers. In addition, the company can better adapt its infrastructure to its needs, which brings performance benefits.

Additionally, companies may prefer this new version of Qodan to perform security checks in a cloud other than JetBrains. For now, the platform only supports AWS, but the company says support for other platforms will come in future releases.
