Shift5 and Booz Allen Join Forces to Expand OT Visibility in Transportation and Defense Sectors

Shift5 and Booz Allen Hamilton announced a partnership to integrate Shift5’s onboard data access and observation capabilities with Booz Allen’s suite of AI/ML-powered cybersecurity and predictive maintenance solutions. The integration enables customers to have complete cybersecurity awareness and maintenance intelligence from onboard fleet assets to the digital battlespace surrounding them.

Insights from Shift5’s unique, dual-function OT platform—combined with Booz Allen’s cross-sector mission expertise, battle-proven approaches, and ready-to-deploy solutions—scale across large, complex fleets, enabling operators to make smarter, faster decisions with real-time data access, contextual insights, and actionable analytics at the edge.

By integrating Shift5 Platform insights with its AI/ML models, Booz Allen enhances its cybersecurity and predictive maintenance solutions, leading to higher anomaly detection performance and improved resource availability. This collaboration helps Booz Allen deploy innovative, next-generation technologies to its clients at scale to stay ahead of the evolving threat landscape. It also provides professional services for data operationalization and integration.

The partnership deepens the existing relationship between the two companies. Booz Allen previously announced that its corporate venture capital arm, Booz Allen Ventures, has made a strategic investment in Shift5. Shift5 supports Booz Allen’s continued delivery of the highest quality commercial materials for cyber-physical resilience and mission readiness.

“Operational technology is key to national security, enabling U.S. critical infrastructure to perform essential functions,” said Brad Medairy, executive vice president and leader of Booz Allen’s National Cyber practice, in a media statement. “As adversaries increasingly view the U.S. federal government, intelligence agencies, military, and all critical infrastructure industries as one cyberspace, ensuring cyber-physical resilience and mission readiness in OT environments is paramount.

He added that Booz Allen and Shift5 together will help clients outperform their competitors with trading excellence powered by real-time data and cutting-edge artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities.

The Shift5 platform is hardware, bus and protocol agnostic and performs passive, full data capture from any onboard source – any frame, any bus, any protocol. For the first time, it unlocks the entire onboard data ecosystem for operators, enabling real-time decision intelligence with full access to onboard data and visibility from asset level to fleet scale.

“Transportation and defense operators are critical to maintaining economic stability and defending national security; without their reliable and consistent performance, the global supply chain weakens, human safety is compromised, and the nation loses its competitive strategic edge,” said Josh Lospinoso, CEO and co-founder of Shift5. “Given the current state of geopolitics and the evolving threat landscape, commercial and military operators must embrace a new definition of complete cybersecurity that includes observability, OT, and AI/ML. Shift5’s collaboration with Booz Allen brings together these essential components to give operators a decisive advantage.”

In May, Shift5 announced that the Shift5 platform is now available on AWS Marketplace, a digital catalog of thousands of software offerings from independent software vendors that make it easy to find, test, purchase, and deploy software that runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
