Kennedys maintains EMEA growth momentum with appointment of leading cyber and regulatory insurance partner in Madrid

We have appointed Jesús Iglesias as a partner in Madrid. Jesús, who joins from Clyde & Co in Madrid, advises major international and domestic insurers, reinsurers and intermediaries operating in Spain on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious insurance and reinsurance work, with a particular focus on cyber risk and regulatory matters. He will be joined by legal director Clara Bermejo and associate José Temes.

The new hires follow Ignacio Figuerole, Ricardo Garrido and Susana Martinez, who joined the team of nine lawyers in Madrid in May 2024.

Jesús’s main practice is cyber, regulatory and corporate insurance. In the cyber area, he advises on breach response, coverage advice and privacy advice to policyholders under cyber policies. He has also advised numerous cyber insurers operating in Spain on their cyber policies and policy wording. His regulatory and corporate practice includes policy drafting, broker distribution agreements, advising on regulatory proceedings initiated by the Spanish Insurance Regulatory Authority and the Spanish Data Protection Authority, and incorporating Spanish entities and local branches of EU insurers. He also has extensive experience in international insurance programs and has advised on captive insurance schemes to Spanish multinationals and insurers. In addition, Jesús advises on reinsurance disputes and has been involved in numerous arbitration and litigation proceedings.

Jesús is a professor of insurance law and a regular speaker at conferences and seminars. He was nominated in the Thomson Reuters Stellar Performance Survey of Stand-Out Talent published in February 2024. In addition, he was named Cyber ​​​​Risks and Regulatory Lawyer of the Year in Spain (Global Law Experts) 2023 and 2024, as well as by Best Lawyers, Spain 2022, 2023 and 2024.
