The Infosys Foundation has provided a grant of over Rs 330 million for the project, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

It announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICT Academy to enhance employability of youth in rural India.

“This collaboration will aim to enable engineering, arts and science students in second- and third-tier cities across the country to acquire relevant skills that are essential for career advancement today,” the statement reads.

Infosys Foundation said that through this agreement, it will further support the establishment of “Centres of Excellence for Women and Youth Empowerment” in over 450 colleges across India. These will act as skill development and training hubs, both online and offline, and will also provide employment opportunities.

The curriculum will include 80 hours of basic skills training, 20 hours of interpersonal skills training, facilitation of internships for students who will earn a certificate, and other activities including youth empowerment events and real-world problem-solving coding exercises, the release said.

Additionally, the initiative will leverage Infosys Springboard, Infosys’ flagship digital learning platform, to provide students with easy access to learning and skill acquisition.
