Skydance, National Amusements Reach Tentative Agreement to Acquire Paramount

It seems the two sides never stopped talking… Skydance Media and National Amusements Inc. have just reached an agreement preliminary agreement regarding the acquisition of Paramount Global, in accordance with DiversityThe deal won’t close until it’s reviewed by a special committee of Paramount Global’s board of directors, with a 45-day period to find other bidders.

Initial talks with National Amusements broke down in June, with the parties citing concerns about the ability to close the then-$6 billion deal. Terms of the new deal have not yet been disclosed. While sources close to the situation say the discussions are “extremely serious,” there is no certainty that a sale will happen.

Before the announcement, It was revealed on Monday that Warner Bros. Discovery is in active talks with Paramount about a sale or partnership between its Max and Paramount+ streaming platforms to better compete with competitors.
