Missouri Department of Environmental Protection Announces Changes to Regulations and Pricing for Fall Deer and Turkey Hunting Seasons

Missouri – The Missouri Department of Wildlife is reminding everyone about price and regulation changes for the upcoming fall deer and turkey hunting seasons.

Below is a list of all the changes for the upcoming hunting seasons.

CHANGES IN TURKEY

  • Turkey entry permits will no longer be counted towards the archery permit.
  • A new fall turkey hunting permit has been created. Both fall firearm turkey hunters and fall bowhunters must purchase this permit in order to hunt turkeys in the fall.
  • The fall turkey season is now divided into archery and firearms portions, and the bird hunting limit has been reduced from four to two birds of either sex (combined for both portions).

CWD UPDATES

  • Audrain, Boone, Cole, Dent, Douglas, Howard, Lewis, Maries, Monroe, Newton, Osage, Phelps, Randolph, Saline, Scotland, Shannon, Shelby and Webster counties have been added to the chronic wasting disease (CWD) management zone.
  • As with all counties in the CWD management zone, grain, salt products, minerals and other food products used to attract deer are prohibited year-round. Hunters must also comply with regulations regarding the transport of carcasses. All counties in the CWD management zone are open during the CWD portion of the firearms deer hunting season.
  • On November 16–17, hunters who shoot deer in designated areas of the chronic wasting disease management zone must take the deer (or its head) to a mandatory chronic wasting disease sampling point on the day of the shoot.

OTHER UPDATES

  • The sharp antler restriction has been lifted in Audrain, Boone, Cole, Howard, Lewis, Maries, Monroe, Osage, Phelps, Randolph, Saline, Scotland and Shelby counties.
  • Deer hunters can now apply for four antlerless firearms permits in Dent, Douglas, Maries, Newton and Phelps counties.
  • Hunters can now use antlerless bow hunting permits in Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid and Pemiscot counties.
  • New deer hunts have been added, and others have been removed or modified.
  • Deer hunting regulations have changed in some protected areas.
  • Hunters can now use drones to track injured deer and turkeys.
  • Deer and turkey hunting permit prices have increased.
