UP govt tightens rules after Hathras stampede tragedy

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to draw up detailed SOPs to ensure that permissions for events are granted only if “basic, minimum” amenities are met. This includes needs such as sufficient toilets, water tankers and evacuation points for the crowd.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, a three-ministerial committee, including Arun, was tasked with overseeing relief measures. The chief minister visited Hathras, met the injured and the families of the deceased and ordered an inquiry led by a retired high court judge.
