CII Karnataka adopts ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ to boost emerging sectors in fiscal 2025

Bengaluru: Under its ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ initiative, the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has chalked out plans to focus on emerging sectors and industrial clusters outside the metropolitan city during the current fiscal.

Working in collaboration with the state government, the Karnataka branch of the organisation will work on key areas like technology and innovation, clean and alternative energy, GCC, SME development, CII Karnataka chairman N Venu told the media on Wednesday.

Apart from emerging sectors like semiconductors, solar and mobile (electronics), the company will also look at other emerging segments like aerospace, e-mobility, healthcare and agri-tech, which offer huge potential for growth and job creation, added Vice President, Founder and Managing Director, ASM Technologies Ltd Rabindra Srikantan.

Highlighting Karnataka’s significant contribution to India’s GDP, a major part of which comes from Bengaluru, he highlighted the ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ initiative that aims to diversify development in the state by augmenting the contribution of tier II and III cities like Mysuru, Belgavi, Mangalore and Hubballi. The Beyond Bengaluru initiative focuses on improving ease of doing business, educational programmes and energy efficiency.

CII Karnataka also highlighted India’s target of achieving net zero emissions by 2070 and meeting 50% of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2030. This energy transformation, driven by efficiency and adoption of renewable energy sources, will create a space of opportunities for companies engaged in generation, transmission, distribution or consumption.

In line with strengthening industry-academia relations, CII plans to upskill young people, equipping them with essential skills for the future workforce and business community. This will include proactive engagement with various stakeholders, including international consulates, to explore business opportunities, promote job readiness, and cross-learning initiatives for both faculty and students through targeted initiatives such as CII Indian Women Network and CII Young Indians.
