EG America Names New Vice President of Loyalty and Digital Marketing

EG America has named Whitney Johnson vice president of loyalty and digital commerce. In this role, she will lead and drive the convenience-store company’s growth through loyalty marketing and digital commerce.

Most recently, Johnson founded Capstone Growth Advisors, a consulting firm focused on the consumer packaged goods (CPG), e-commerce and retail sectors that specializes in tailored growth strategies and executive advisory services.

Previously, she led grocery merchandising and category management at GoBrands, Inc. and held several leadership positions in merchandising strategy, loyalty and category management at Murphy Oil and Sunoco.

“We are thrilled to have Whitney join EG America,” said Brian Ferguson, CMO. “She brings the breadth and depth of experience we need in loyalty marketing, merchandising and digital commerce strategies to grow our business.”

In June, Based in Westborough, Massachusetts EG America has named Lisa N’Chonon as chief financial officer and treasurer and Laura Sherman as general counsel.

In addition to these management changes, earlier this month EG Group Ltd., the parent company of EG America LLC, reached sales agreement its UK grocery and gas station business of more than 550 locations to co-founder Zuber Issa for $290.117 million.

Following the completion of the transaction, Zuber Issa will step down as co-CEO of EG Group and his brother, co-CEO Mohsin Issa, will continue to lead the company as sole CEO. Zuber Issa will retain his current stake in the company and remain on the board as a non-executive director.

Founded in 2001 by the Issa family, Blackburn, UK, EG Group is an operator of petrol stations and retail outlets with over 6,200 locations across the UK and Ireland, Europe, the US and Australia. In 2018, EG Group established itself in the US as EG America, acquiring Kroger chain of 24-hour stores consisting of 762 locationsincluding Turkey Hill, Loaf ‘N Jug, Kwik Shop, Tom Thumb and Quik Stop banners. She acquired Travel Centers in America Minit Mart convenience store operations in 2018 the portfolio includes 225 c-storesIn 2019, among other acquisitions, EG Group acquired Cumberland Farms and nearly 660 convenience stores in the Northeast and Florida.
